If Only We'd Listened to Common Sense
Beware of the Kids was a notice allegedly stuck on a family's house in the UK.
For a 10-year old and an 11-year had allegedly terrorised their neighbours for years before allegedly progressing to attempted child murder.
And we're surprised?
We have the brass neck to hold up our hands in horror and say we're shocked?
How dare we!
The late Common Sense told us that if you give someone an inch, they will take a mile. It's human nature. In fact, it's in the nature of all living creatures.
So are these two kids who are now on trial evil or vastly different from other children? Well, yes.... and No.
They're different because they allegedly tortured another child. And no, they're not vastly different from other kids by harrassing neighbours and being prize pains in the butt. They're just faster learners and are being true to nature by stretching the inch they were given to a mile or two because no-one was allowed to SMACK them.
Police, social workers, local authorities all raise their hands in horror now. Yet they were powerless to act when the kids were allegedly making the lives of neighbouring families a misery by pelting fruit and eggs at their doors and calling them names. And why should they not have behaved so badly? No-one was allowed to touch them. How can we possibly be horrified or shocked now?
We've ALLOWED this to happen by allowing people in ivory towers to make stupid rules. How do children learn if you don't chastise them?
"Don't teach them violence," were the cries from the powers that be when they told us we were no longer allowed to smack our children. "That only teaches them violence," we were told.
WRONG! What the No Smacking Rule taught them was that they could do what they liked, when they liked and no-one could do anything about it. Not their parents. Not their teachers. Not the police. Not the local authority.
What it did not teach them was the reality of the food chain. No matter what species you are, your survival depends on knowing your place on it and not getting in the face of anything or anyone higher up.
We haven't taught our children that. So they've grown up, naturally progressing in bad behaviour as they've been given an inch and have taken the proverbial mile.
They don't all progress to criminal courts facing attempted murder charges but those that stay out of the system are not going to suddenly become responsible adults.
Isn't it time we wakened up and stopped listening to ivory tower theorists who live on a different planet from everyone else?
The late Common Sense would surely say that these theorists should be on trial alongisde the two kids in South Yorkshire.
But we are now obviously a common-sense-free society. Although common-sense still applies if you want to survive.
Natural law dictates that it's survival of the fittest and the best way forward is to get up the food chain as fast as you can away from the cesspits of violence and lawlessness we've created.
The way out is with money. And I'm raising my own without the banks, along with other like-minded people who want to raise business expansion capital, sustainability capita or start-up funds. One company has raised more than $90,000.
